How it works
I use hot water extraction, which is what most people mean by steam cleaning. Cleaning solution goes down under pressure, works into the pile, and is then drawn back out along with the dirt it has lifted. It cleans deeper than the surface machines you can hire, and it takes far more moisture back out again — which is why it dries in hours rather than overnight.
Before I start anything I check the fibre and test a discreet patch. Wool, synthetic and natural fibres all behave differently, and using the wrong method on wool is how carpets get ruined.
An honest word about stains
Most marks come out. Some won't. Old pet accidents that have soaked into the underlay, bleach marks, and certain dye stains are permanent damage rather than dirt, and no amount of cleaning fixes them.
I'd rather say that on the doorstep than take your money and leave you disappointed. Where I'm not certain, I'll test a patch and show you the result before we agree anything.
The things nobody thinks to clean.
A sofa takes more daily use than any carpet in the house, and a mattress absorbs a great deal more than most people want to think about. Both come up noticeably better than owners expect.
Upholstery is cleaned with the same extraction method at a gentler setting, matched to the fabric. As with carpets, I'll check the label and test first.
Questions about carpets and upholstery
How long does the carpet take to dry?
Usually two to four hours with good airflow. I extract as much moisture as the machine will take out, so you are not left walking on a wet carpet all day.
Will it get rid of pet smells?
Usually, yes — where the problem is in the carpet fibres. Where it has soaked through into the underlay, cleaning the surface will not fix it and I will tell you that before I start rather than take your money and disappoint you.
Will every stain come out?
Honestly, no. Old pet accidents that have reached the underlay, bleach marks and some dye stains are permanent — no machine fixes those. Where I'm not sure, I'll test a patch and show you before we agree anything.
Is it safe for my children and pets?

Do you move the furniture?
I move what can be moved safely — sofas, chairs, small tables. Very heavy or fragile items stay where they are and I clean around and under the edges as far as I can reach.
Can you clean wool carpets?
Yes. Wool needs a gentler approach and the right products, and I will always check the fibre before choosing a method.
