A properly local cleaner, not a franchise territory

Most of the cleaning companies that come up for Towcester aren't in Towcester. They're national franchises and agencies run from Northampton or Milton Keynes, covering the town as one postcode district among many — and several of them list Towcester without ever naming a single village in it.

I live four miles away in Silverstone. Towcester is my nearest town, it's where I shop, and it's the area I can reach fastest. That means realistic arrival times, genuine flexibility when something changes, and someone you'll actually see around.

Towcester homes I look after

The housing here varies enormously, and the same cleaning approach doesn't suit all of it.

• The new developments — Towcester Vale, Wood Burcote and the estates off the Brackley Road. Modern, open plan, and often needing an after-builders clean before anyone properly moves in.
• The town centre cottages — the stone and brick terraces around Watling Street and the older lanes, where original floors, sash windows and period fittings all need a more careful hand.
• The village properties — barn conversions, thatched cottages and farmhouses in the surrounding parishes, where mud, dogs and gravel drives are simply a fact of life.

Hard water, and what it does here

South Northamptonshire sits on limestone, and the water is hard. Limescale builds up on taps, shower screens, tiles and kettles noticeably faster than people moving here from softer-water areas expect.

Descaling bathrooms and kitchens properly is part of every clean I do rather than something extra. It's the single most common thing new clients mention when they say the last cleaner "didn't really get it".

Race weekends and holiday lets

Silverstone Circuit is on the doorstep, and Towcester fills up around the British Grand Prix, MotoGP and the bigger race weekends. If you let a property here, you'll know the changeovers are tight and the standard has to be right first time.

I understand those timings because I live next to the circuit. If you're letting through the season, it's worth sorting the arrangement well before the calendar starts.
