Who you're dealing with

Fair Home Cleaning Services is a trading name of Scarlett Fairholme, a sole trader. Address for service: Silverstone, Northamptonshire NN12. Contact: fairhomecs@icloud.com or 07714 262784.

Quotes and prices

Domestic cleaning is charged by the hour. Carpet, upholstery and commercial work is quoted per job or per site after I've seen it. Any quote I give is based on what I've been told or shown — if the job turns out to be substantially different, I'll speak to you before doing anything that changes the price.

Your right to cancel

If we agree a booking away from my business premises — for example during a visit to your home, or by phone or email — you have the right to cancel within 14 days, without giving a reason. This is your statutory right under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.

To cancel, just tell me clearly before the 14 days are up — an email or a phone call is fine. You can use the cancellation form below, but you don't have to.

If you'd like me to start before the 14 days are up, that's absolutely fine, but I need you to ask me to in writing (an email or text is enough). If you then cancel within the 14 days, you'll only pay for the work I've already done up to that point. If the work is fully completed within the 14 days at your request, the right to cancel is lost.

Model cancellation form

Complete and return this form only if you wish to cancel the contract. Send it to Scarlett Fairholme, Silverstone, Northamptonshire NN12, or by email to fairhomecs@icloud.com.

Ongoing cleaning and cancelling a visit

Regular cleaning has no contract and no minimum term. Once we're up and running, if you want to stop, just tell me — there's no notice period and no fee.

For an individual visit, please give me as much notice as you reasonably can if you need to cancel or rearrange. I keep a fixed round, so a late cancellation usually means an empty slot I can't fill. I'll always do the same for you.

Access, keys and alarms

You'll either be in, or you'll arrange access with me. If you give me a key it will be kept securely, labelled with a code rather than your name or address, and returned to you whenever you ask. If your property has an alarm you'll give me the procedure in writing, and I'll follow it.

Payment

Domestic cleaning is payable after each visit unless we agree otherwise. Commercial work is invoiced monthly in arrears. Payment is by bank transfer.

Insurance, breakages and damage

I hold public liability insurance. Accidents are rare but they do happen — if I break or damage something, I'll tell you the same day rather than hope you don't notice, and we'll sort it out.

Please tell me in advance about anything particularly fragile, valuable or sentimental so I can leave it alone or take extra care.

Carpet and upholstery work

Carpets, upholstery and mattresses are cleaned using hot water extraction. Before treating anything I'll check the fibre and test a discreet area.

Some marks are permanent damage rather than dirt — old pet accidents that have reached the underlay, bleach marks and certain dye stains among them. Where that's the case I'll tell you before starting. I can't guarantee removal of every stain, and I won't pretend otherwise to win the job.

If something isn't right

Tell me within 24 hours of the visit and I'll come back and put it right at no charge. I'd much rather fix it than have you quietly unhappy.

If you want to make a formal complaint, email fairhomecs@icloud.com or write to the address above. I'll acknowledge it within 3 working days and give you a full response within 14 days.

Health and safety

I won't work in conditions that aren't safe — that includes moving very heavy furniture, using ladders above a safe height, and handling bodily fluids, needles or hazardous waste. If I come across something like that I'll stop and talk to you.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and are subject to the jurisdiction of its courts. Nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Ready when you are.

Tell me your postcode and what you need. I'll come back to you the same day with a real price.
